Leicester Tigers are investing £8million in the redevelopment of the west side of the Welford Road stadium and construction is underway for a new West Stand which will replace the current Clubhouse building dating back to 1909.
This three-storey uniquely shaped building will include 3100 seats, club offices, main ticket office, a premium season ticket lounge, a Tigers retail shop, stadium big screen, stadium control tower, as well as a concourse area that will house Tigers heritage, food kiosks and public bars. The new West Stand will bring the stadium’s capacity to just under 26,000.
The sealant work required is to seal all precast concrete slab joints in the main terracing area. This is consisting of 12mm horizontal joints using silicone 825 behind the seats and all the vertical expansion joints up to 20mm wide in the areas of the steps, vomitory, treads, risers and lower walls using Hybriflex SMP. Additional works carried out was to fill the precast concrete bolt holes, which was done using Sikagrout 212.
