The construction of the new Mater Dei Hospital Oncology Centre in Msida, Malta is set to replace the existing Department of Oncology at the Sir Paul Boffa Hospital, which to date is the only facility in Malta to provide treatment against cancer to patients.
The new building will cover a floor area of approx. 23,000sq.m with 81 specialised inpatient oncology beds, 12 out-patient beds and 31 day care beds.
Three main materials will be used on the exterior to match the existing design including local lower globigerina limestone, rendered concrete and aluminium screen fins.
Technology to reduce the usage of fossil fuels has been installed with projections indicating that the building can significantly reduce carbon dioxide emitted into the atmosphere through energy recovery on the fresh water ventilation system, photovoltaic panels, rain water collection and the collection and treatment of grey waste water.
Application
Sealing fire sleeves and ducting.
